Employee Fundraiser Supports CVPD Shoe and Sock Drive

Bravo to the partnership between the Chula Vista Police Foundation and the Chula Vista Elementary School District. CVPD's Seventh Annual Shoe and Sock Drive provided 450 students with new socks and shoes on Saturday, September 16, in collaboration with the Payless Shoe Source on Broadway in Chula Vista. The first shoe drive began when a School Resource Officer noticed students with tattered shoes who were embarrassed about their situation.

The SRO unit took action to support local students and the event has grown ever since. This year, District employees partnered with El Tapatio Catering for an employee lunch fundraiser where net proceeds went toward assisting the Shoe and Sock Drive. District employees raised approximately $1,000 in net proceeds and donations to support the drive. The generosity of District employees helped purchase the equivalent of new shoes for an entire classroom of students. Thank you to our SROs and our District employees!
